Radia appoints Giordo as new President and CEO for Italy

Lundstrom: “Europe is a strategic area for the group’s future”
The American company Radia, engaged in the development of WindRunner, the largest cargo plane in the world, is counting on an Italian manager to manage its activities in the peninsula: the choice fell on Giuseppe Giordo, appointed as the new president and CEO of Radia for Italy. The move strengthens the U.S. group's presence and growth in Europe and underscores the company's commitment to accelerating the development of the energy transition and innovation in the field of defence through partnerships with industry leaders at the European level.
"Europe represents a strategic area for the future of Radia, which is building a strong transatlantic partnership with the United States," explained the number one of the US group, Mark Lundstrom."Italy is proving to be a key partner, not only for its industrial capacity, but also for its shared commitment to accelerate the energy transition."
Lundstrom then stressed that "as Giordo's proven leadership" in the aerospace and defense sector "will be instrumental in the spread of WindRunner in global markets. Radia plans to deploy a fleet of WindRunners around the world to enable the construction of ultra-high-power on-shore wind farms and transform the transport of oversized defense goods."
As the group's CEO recalled yesterday, Radia is, therefore, continuing its collaboration with the main European aerospace companies including Leonardo and Magroup Magnaghi Aerospace in Italy and Aernnova in Spain to advance the development and production of Windrunner. These partnerships, together with the planned commitments in France and Germany, could generate several billion euros in investment and create more than 4 billions of highly skilled jobs across the EU over the next five years.
According to Radia's plans, in addition to the activities in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Italy will be a key hub for the group's European activities.
Giordo arrives at the top of Radia's Italian activities after a long managerial experience in the aerospace and defense sectors. He has led major organizations, including Alenia Aermacchi (head of the Leonardo Group's former Aeronautics sector), Aero Vodochody and Saudi Arabian Military Industries (Sami), where he held positions as president, CEO, board member and senior executive. Within the various groups, the manager has led strategic reorganization processes and worked on the development of lasting partnerships with various companies in the sector (from Lockheed Martin to Rheinmetall) global players such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Naval Group, IAl and Rheinmetall.
"I am honored to join Radia at such a crucial time for global innovation in the field of energy and defense," Giordo commented yesterday. "The company's vision and ambition, supported by a revolutionary technology such as WindRunner, represents a courageous and important challenge," he stressed. I look forward to making my experience available to help deliver sustainable and impactful solutions that benefit industries and communities across Europe and beyond."
